OUTDOOR & LONG-RANGE WIFI PERTH

Outdoor WiFi Installation Perth for Sheds, Acreage & Large Properties

Your internet can be fast inside the main building and still be useless at the shed, workshop, gate or far end of the property. Western Technology designs and installs outdoor WiFi and wireless bridge systems that extend Starlink, NBN and other internet connections to the areas where you actually need them.
A SIMPLE WAY TO THINK ABOUT IT

Get the Network to the Right Place, Then Provide WiFi There

For a nearby outdoor area, one well-positioned outdoor access point may be enough. For a detached building farther away, a dedicated wireless bridge can carry the network there first, then a local access point provides normal WiFi at the remote end.

Outdoor coverage

Extend WiFi around a house, shed, yard, courtyard or open property area.

Remote building link

Carry the network between two suitable buildings without relying on a normal WiFi repeater.

Bridge plus local WiFi

Link the remote building, then install an access point where the people and devices actually are.

Perth Based

Local installation and project support.

Registered Cabling

Structured cabling capability for suitable fixed network work.

Outdoor Networks

Access points, wireless bridges, PoE and network configuration.

Starlink & NBN

Extend an existing connection instead of expecting one router to cover everything.

THE COMMON PROBLEM

Fast Internet Does Not Automatically Mean Good WiFi Everywhere

Starlink, NBN and other internet services bring the internet connection to your property. WiFi is the local wireless network that distributes that connection to your devices. Those two things are related, but they are not the same.
A standard router may work well inside the house or office and still struggle through metal sheds, double-brick walls, long distances, trees or multiple buildings. Adding a random repeater can make the network slower or less predictable if the real issue is distance or building separation.
We start by working out where the network needs to go, what needs to connect, and whether the best path is cable, fibre, an outdoor access point or a dedicated wireless bridge.

The goal is usable coverage, not the biggest advertised range number.

A phone or camera also needs to transmit back to the access point. Mounting position, obstacles, terrain and the client device can matter as much as the access point itself.

WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO CONNECT?

Outdoor WiFi Solutions Built Around the Property

The right design depends on the distance, buildings, terrain and devices involved. These are some of the most common reasons customers contact us.

WiFi Around the Property

Coverage for yards, outdoor entertaining areas, gardens and open work areas.

Shed or Workshop WiFi

Extend the existing internet connection to a detached shed or workshop.

House to Another Building

Use a purpose-built wireless bridge where normal router WiFi is not the right tool.

Starlink Beyond the House

Keep Starlink as the internet service and extend the network beyond the supplied router coverage.

Cameras & Smart Equipment

Provide network connectivity for compatible cameras, intercoms, sensors and connected equipment.

Large Commercial Yards

Outdoor coverage for warehouses, yards, workshops, compounds and multi-building sites.

HOW IT WORKS

Three Common Ways to Extend the Network

We do not use the same design for every property. A simple outdoor access point, a building-to-building bridge and a bridge with remote WiFi solve different problems.

Outdoor Access Point

Best when network connectivity already reaches the mounting location and you want WiFi around that area.

Router or switch → Ethernet/PoE → Outdoor access point → WiFi coverage

Point-to-Point Wireless Bridge

Best when you need to carry the network from one building to another over a clear or suitably engineered wireless path.

Building A → Wireless bridge → Building B

Bridge + Local WiFi

Best when a remote building needs both a dedicated link back to the main property and its own WiFi coverage.

Internet → Bridge A → Bridge B → Access point → Local WiFi

STARLINK & NBN WIFI EXTENSION

Extend the Existing Internet Connection Instead of Buying Another One

Where the design is suitable, the existing Starlink, NBN or business internet connection can be extended to another part of the property. The outdoor wireless system does not replace the internet service. It carries or distributes the existing network farther.
If you are also planning the Starlink dish, mount or cable route, see our Starlink installation Perth service.
RUIJIE REYEE OUTDOOR WIFI

Professional Ruijie Reyee Installation and Configuration

Ruijie Reyee offers outdoor access points, wireless bridges, gateways and cloud-managed networking products that can suit large homes, acreage, sheds and commercial properties. Western Technology can install and configure suitable Reyee equipment as part of a complete network solution.
The equipment is only one part of the job. Mounting height, line of sight, cable route, PoE power, network configuration, channel planning and final testing all affect the result.

RG-RAP6202(G)

A weather-rated outdoor WiFi 5 access point used in some large-property expansion kits. Ruijie specifies AC1300 class performance, IP68 protection, two Gigabit Ethernet ports and wall or pole mounting.

WiFi 6 Outdoor APs

Newer Reyee outdoor models such as the RG-RAP6262(G) add WiFi 6 while retaining weather-rated outdoor construction. We select the model around performance, coverage, uplink and availability.

Reyee EST Wireless Bridges

Purpose-built bridge units can carry the network between suitable buildings. Models in the EST range support different distances and link requirements.

Product models change over time.

The page is not tied to one exact kit. We can use a suitable current model based on the property, required link, performance target and locally available hardware.

ABOUT THE "30 ACRE" CLAIM

Large Coverage Figures Are Estimates, Not Guarantees

Some outdoor WiFi kits are marketed with coverage figures such as a 200 metre radius or about 30 acres in favourable open conditions. Those figures can be useful as a rough indication, but they should not be treated as a guaranteed usable service area.
Ruijie itself notes that maximum wireless range varies with the environment, receiving device and other conditions. A professional design focuses on the areas that actually need service, not a circle drawn around an access point.

WiFi is a two-way conversation.

A powerful outdoor access point can transmit a long way, but your phone, tablet or camera still needs enough signal and transmit capability to communicate back.

Mounting Height

An elevated and open mounting position often improves outdoor coverage and line of sight.

Terrain & Trees

Slopes, dense vegetation and buildings can block or weaken wireless signals.

Client Devices

A phone, tablet or camera must transmit back to the access point. Its radio matters too.

Building Materials

Metal cladding, concrete and foil insulation can make indoor-to-outdoor coverage difficult.

Interference

Other WiFi and radio activity can reduce usable throughput and reliability.

Required Speed

A network for messages and WiFi calling has different requirements from video, cameras or large file transfers.

WIFI TO THE SHED

Need WiFi in a Shed, Workshop or Granny Flat?

You may not need another internet service. Where the property and network design are suitable, we can extend the existing connection to the remote building and then provide WiFi where people and devices will use it.
The best method depends on distance, line of sight, available pathways, power, building construction and the speed you need at the remote end.
Shed close to the main building
Outdoor AP or a suitable cabled connection may be enough.
Detached shed farther away
A point-to-point wireless bridge is often a better starting point.
Remote shed needs indoor WiFi
Bridge the network to the shed, then install a local indoor access point.
Remote shed plus outdoor coverage
Bridge the network to the shed, then install an outdoor AP at the remote location.
Several remote buildings
Consider point-to-multipoint, multiple bridges, fibre or a mixed design.
BUILDING-TO-BUILDING WIFI

A Dedicated Wireless Bridge Is Different From a WiFi Repeater

A point-to-point link uses directional wireless equipment to create a dedicated network connection between two suitable locations. It is commonly used when trenching a new cable or fibre route is difficult, disruptive or uneconomical.
For dedicated building links, see our Point to Point WiFi Perth service.

WHAT WE CHECK BEFORE INSTALLATION

A Better Result Starts With the Site, Not the Box

Outdoor WiFi is highly dependent on the property. Before recommending equipment, we look at the path, coverage target, network source and devices that will use the connection.

Distance

Approximate distance between the internet source, remote building and intended coverage area.

Line of Sight

Trees, buildings, terrain and installation height can affect long-range bridge links.

Internet Speed

The remote network cannot create more internet bandwidth than the source connection provides.

Power & PoE

We confirm how the access point or bridge equipment will be powered at each location.

Cable Path

Outdoor-rated Ethernet, fibre or existing pathways may be part of the final design.

Device Type

Phones, cameras, laptops and IoT devices have different radio and bandwidth requirements.

Coverage Zones

We design around the places that matter rather than trying to cover every square metre equally.

Future Expansion

A good design leaves room for another building, AP, camera or network segment later.

OUR INSTALLATION PROCESS

From Property Problem to Working Network

The process is kept simple for the customer, while the technical design happens behind the scenes.
STEP 1

Understand the Goal

Tell us where the internet starts, where you need it, and what devices will use the connection.

STEP 2

Assess the Property

We review distance, obstacles, mounting locations, cable paths, power and line-of-sight requirements.

STEP 3

Design the Link

We select the access point, bridge, cabling and network configuration appropriate to the job.

STEP 4

Install & Configure

Equipment is mounted, cabled, aligned where required and configured into the network.

STEP 5

Test & Handover

We confirm connectivity and practical coverage in the agreed areas and explain how the system is managed.

WHAT SPEED SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

Link Speed and Internet Speed Are Not the Same Thing

Wireless equipment may advertise a radio rate much higher than the speed of your Starlink or NBN service. Real application throughput is affected by the internet plan, bridge capacity, WiFi conditions, distance, interference, network hardware and the connected device.
Our aim is to design a stable connection with enough usable performance for the job. That may mean web access and WiFi calling at one property, or higher throughput for cameras, streaming, workstations or business systems at another.

We do not promise a fixed wireless speed before assessing the site.

Where a particular application has a minimum bandwidth requirement, tell us during quoting so the link can be designed around it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Outdoor WiFi Installation Perth FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often about Starlink extensions, shed WiFi and long-range wireless.
Yes. Where the property is suitable, the existing Starlink network can be extended using a cabled connection, outdoor access point, point-to-point wireless bridge or a combination. The right method depends on the distance, buildings and required coverage.
Yes. NBN is the internet connection. We can design a local network that distributes that connection farther across the property using suitable wired or wireless equipment.
Yes. Western Technology can install and configure suitable Ruijie Reyee access points and wireless bridge equipment as part of an outdoor network design. The exact model depends on the property, performance requirement and current hardware availability.
Some kits are marketed with large open-area coverage estimates, but usable WiFi range varies. Terrain, trees, mounting height, interference, building materials and the phone, camera or other client device all affect real coverage. We treat published range figures as estimates, not guarantees.
An outdoor access point provides normal WiFi to client devices around an area. A point-to-point bridge is designed to carry the network between two locations, usually between buildings. A remote building may use both: a bridge for the backhaul and an access point for local WiFi.
It depends on the bridge model, line of sight, interference, mounting height, required throughput and local conditions. Some commercial bridge equipment is rated for multi-kilometre links under suitable conditions, but a site-specific assessment is needed before treating any distance as achievable.
Clear line of sight is highly desirable for reliable long-range wireless bridging. Trees, terrain, roofs and other structures can weaken or block a link. Mounting height or a different path may be required.
Not necessarily. The final speed is limited by the source internet service and the network path, including wireless bridge throughput, WiFi conditions, network hardware and the connected device. We design around the intended use rather than promising a fixed speed before the site is assessed.
Yes. The remote access point can usually be configured as part of the same network or with a separate wireless network, depending on how you want users and devices separated.
Potentially, yes. A suitable network path can support compatible IP cameras and other network devices. Camera bandwidth, power and reliability requirements should be included in the design from the start.
Neither is always better. Fibre can provide very high performance and electrical isolation where a suitable cable pathway is practical. Wireless can avoid trenching and can be faster to deploy where line of sight is available. We can discuss which option makes sense for the site.
Yes, suitable network cabling can be included within the agreed scope. Fixed customer cabling is completed in line with applicable cabling requirements and the installation environment.
Often, yes. It depends on the router, available Ethernet connectivity, network layout and the way the new outdoor equipment needs to integrate. We confirm this before finalising the design.
Yes. The service can suit large homes, acreage, lifestyle properties, workshops and suitable commercial sites in the Perth region.
Pricing depends on the number of locations, distance, access, mounting requirements, cable routes, hardware, power, line of sight and whether a site visit or elevated access is required. Send us photos, approximate distances and the coverage goal so we can scope the job properly.
Send the suburb, internet type, photos of the main and remote locations, approximate distance, what areas need WiFi, what devices will connect, whether power is available at the remote building and any map or site-plan screenshot that helps show the layout.
